Located in historic Berkeley Springs, WV, WCST provides the town with programing from the USA radio network as well as programing from WV Metronews. WCST is also the home of Berkeley Springs High School athletics. WCST is a 250 watt (day)/17 watt (night) AM radio station.
Brief History:
In 1963, WCST was “born” when Four Star Broadcasting flipped the switch on 1010 AM. It was a mixed music/sports/talk format. The station turned to an FM/AM station in 1968 when WCST was broadcast on 93.5. In 1979, Four Star sold the station to Sammy and Mary Lou Trump. The Trumps owned the station until 1998 when Capper Broadcasting bought the station, turning the WCST call letters to WDHC in 2000 and the broadcast frequency of 93.5 to 92.9 in 2004. During this time, WCST went to the wayside and somewhat forgotten on to its original home of 1010 AM. In 2006, WCST saw a newer life as WCST Sports went on air as the Berkeley Springs High School sports went from FM to AM. Today, Bill Fox and Geoff Fox do the call of the Indians sports on WCST. They do all football games in the fall, a number of boys & girls basketball games in the winter, as well as baseball and softball in the spring.
